Reclaim New York offered the following statement on the Independent Budget Office’s report showing subway delays cost $307 million per year, and that there are over 47,000 more subway delays each month in 2017 compared to 2012:

“Riders who have been stuck on train platforms, missing their families, and paying more for worse service already knew what this report would show. They’re paying the price for the mass transit crisis with their hard-earned money and time, while the Governor, and MTA work overtime to dodge responsibility.

“Instead of letting politicians pass the buck and grab more money from taxpayers and riders, New Yorkers must demand reform for the MTA, and accountability from the Governor, and Albany.

“Until they do, more reports like this will show politicians had years to avoid this crisis, but instead of providing public service, they’ve only provided lip service to mass transit problems.”
